Wind River, NFV Software Partners Join Hands to Develop Carrier-Grade Virtual Business CPE Reference Design

Wind River, the world's leading provider of IoT software, has partnered with four NFV (Network Function Virtualization) software partners to launch a reference design for the Virtual Business Client Device (vBCPE). Partnering with Brocade, Check Point, InfoVista and Riverbed, Wind River demonstrated a complete versatile virtual business client device running on the Wind River TItanium ServerTM NFV Infrastructure (NFVI).

As service providers gradually discovered the value of NFV, business CPE applications began to appear in large numbers as a pre-application example, which greatly saved operating costs. The virtualization of CPE functions is usually implemented as a separate physical application, which makes more efficient use of computing resources, increases service deployment flexibility, and eliminates the need to upgrade and maintain remote devices. These features can significantly reduce operating expenses (OPEX). ). Virtualized BCPE functionality can save operating expenses, whether deployed on-site or in a service provider data center.

Wind River's vBCPE reference design includes virtual network functions (VNF) from Brocade, Check Point, InfoVista and Riverbed. All of these virtual network functions can run on TItanium Server through close collaboration with many providers within the Wind River TItanium CloudTM ecosystem.

Charlie Ashton, Senior Director of Wind River Network Solutions, said, “We are very grateful to VNF partners for their joint efforts in developing this reference application. Together we have demonstrated that it is possible to integrate different VNFs onto one NFVI platform. Run and achieve carrier-grade reliability to form a complete service chain that provides end-to-end capabilities for enterprise vCPE solutions."

"By utilizing the accelerated vSwitch of the TItanium Server platform, the Brocade 5600 virtual router delivers best-in-class virtual routing performance, which is the key to maximizing vBCPE user capacity, while in turn becoming the new driver," said Michael Bushong, vice president of product networking management at Brocade Software. One of the key factors in the era of IP networks."

Alon Kantor, vice president of business development at Check Point, said, "Check Point is pleased to offer Wind River's NFV solutions with market-leading cybersecurity. Combined with Wind River's technology, Check Point's advanced security mechanisms are used as threat prevention technologies. The way the service is provided protects the business network and data from all types of malware and Zero-Day attacks."

According to Ranga Thittai, Senior Director, InfoVista Strategic Technology Alliance, "InfoVista clearly foresees the bright future of the NFV service chain. Titanium Server NFV is combined with our application and path control technology to enable operators to dynamically control SLA applications and provide the most advanced Hybrid WAN services. As a result, their customers can combine application features and user experience with their business goals."

Katie Colbert, Vice President, Global Technology Alliance, Riverbed Technology, stated, "We are pleased to partner with Wind River to launch a new generation of direct-to-end end-to-end NFV solutions. With 27,000 customers and WAN Optimization leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for eight consecutive years With results, Riverbed works closely with partner and service provider ecosystems to implement a software-defined network that delivers superior application performance across all other networks."

With Titanium Server as the foundation of NFVI software, the telecom industry will be able to achieve two major advantages at the same time: the first is the rapid service deployment that can only be achieved by enterprise-class networks, and the second is the carrier-class uptime and reliability required for telecom networks. . Titanium Server delivers high performance with open source standards including carrier-grade Wind River Linux, Kernel-based Real-Time Virtual Machine (KVM), OpenStack® and Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK), combined with optimization for Intel® architecture And carrier-grade reliability.

Brocade, Check Point, InfoVista, and Riverbed are all members of the Wind River Titanium Cloud Partner Program. The program is designed for service providers and telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) deploying NFV infrastructure platforms, providing a standardized solution ecosystem optimized for Titanium Server and ensuring interoperability.
