And see how solid-state LED lighting will magically change lives.

The low-voltage, universal light module (VLM) provides variable illumination, color and beam angle, and a variety of expansion options to help you achieve cost-effective, high-performance feature lighting. This modular and easy-to-use design combines intelligence for commercial and residential applications with easy configuration and field upgrades, replacements and adjustments without the need for special tools. Now, important changes are taking place in the lighting industry that will affect all of us. And this is also expected to change the lives of the poor on this planet.

Solid-state LED lighting design will change life in an unimaginable way

Incandescent lamps have changed people's lives and improved their health and productivity. Vacuum tube electronics are costly and inefficient and are eventually replaced by solid state transistors. In the transition process, the cathode ray tube became the technology behind the huge and bulky TV set, and it has no similarities with today's LCD monitors and LED backlit displays. Solid-state transistors have driven the development of the modern electronics era, making electronic products faster, smaller, and more cost-effective. Solid-state technology is almost ubiquitous and is widely used in televisions, watches, mobile phones, computers, and even automotive electronic components.

Despite incredible progress, glass tube incandescent bulbs are still in use and become the last bastion of the Edison era. This bulb produces only about 12 lumens per watt and does not last long. The compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) provides better illumination (about 60 lumens per watt) and has a short period of brilliance. Inflatable tube compact fluorescent lamps are used in the field, the actual reliability is lower than the manufacturer's declared level, and many people are not satisfied with the lighting quality of compact fluorescent lamps. The bright blue light-emitting diode (LED) started in Japan and became an enabling technology in a short period of time. Current LED technology produces approximately 150 lumens per watt, which is 12 times more efficient than incandescent lamps. In theory, the LED is a three-volt DC device with a lifetime of 35,000 hours or more. In actual use, the LED light source is powered by the 120 volt AC power source commonly used in our home. The conversion of high-voltage alternating current to direct current requires the use of electrolytic capacitors, which have a lifespan of only 3,000 to 5,000 hours, which is far from the claimed life of the LED.

The ultimate goal of the lighting industry is to use a DC power supply system to eliminate electrolytic capacitors and bulbs and fully exploit the potential of LEDs. The DC-powered lighting system is easy to install and can be used to set the LED light source in any use without receiving restrictions from high voltage lines and outlets. The low voltage LED system offers an extremely long life, excellent illumination quality and the freedom to customize the color and beam angle. In the near future, commercial buildings may be equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE) cables, which can be used to operate low-voltage LED luminaires, and enable signal transmission, remote control of illumination, and monitoring of room temperature and even room occupancy. LEDs can be tuned to the exact wavelengths required for chlorophyll in plants (660 nm red / 450 nm blue) for optimal absorption of light energy. This technology brings horticultural applications that can significantly improve efficiency and reduce the amount of water and energy needed to grow crops. Lighting technology has made great strides over the past 100 years. However, most people think that providing lighting is a matter of course. Turn on the switch and the light will follow. Not everyone is so lucky. About 1.5 billion people in the world do not have any lighting other than daylight. This is far beyond the total population of the world when Edison achieved great inventions.

A non-profit organization called Watts of Love has developed a low-cost LED light source that uses a small battery and is equipped with solar panels to charge the battery and mobile phone. Watts of Love provides portable lighting for midwives, doctors and other community members in the world's poorest areas. Their results can change people's lives. Lighting is one of the easiest and quickest ways to help people get rid of poverty. Illumination allows doctors to provide medical emergency services at night, allowing midwives to take care of mothers and newborns. Lighting allows people to continue working after the sun sets. Lighting can make students' learning time longer and improve their efficiency, thus improving literacy and education. Lighting means that fewer and fewer families can no longer make tough choices between food and expensive kerosene lamps.

As an inventor, Edison recognized the responsibility of “starting from where the previous person gave up,” even if the return did not immediately appear. In the next 50 years, solid-state lighting will change lives in ways we can't imagine now. As a direct beneficiary of Edison's great achievements, we provide a powerful platform to influence and achieve positive change on a global scale.
