Application of GGDZ Lighting Voltage Saving Cabinet in Power Saving of Highway Tunnel Lighting

At present, the road network of China's highways is constantly being improved and it has become an important symbol of national modernization. With the rapid development of highway network, highway tunnel lighting has become a hot issue. How to reduce the lighting power of highway tunnels under the premise of ensuring the safety of traffic is one of the key issues in the industry.

It is worth noting that in the process of power transmission, the domestic power supply enterprises compensate the voltage loss of the power supply line so that the voltage at the end of the line is maintained within the allowable range, and the voltage at the power supply end is raised to 105% to 110% of the rated voltage [1 ]. This approach is appropriate during the peak period of power usage, but during the power outage period, the end-user voltage may exceed the upper limit of the allowable voltage range. For highway tunnel lighting, such an approach will not bring about a power saving effect, but may increase the power consumption. This article briefly describes the lighting requirements of highway tunnels, and introduces the application of GGDZ intelligent lighting voltage-stabilization and power-saving cabinets in energy-saving tunnel lighting.

1 highway tunnel lighting requirements

Tunnel lighting, in a nutshell, is the use of light sources to ensure the visibility of the traffic in the tunnel. The purpose is to provide the driver with a good visual environment and to ensure that the driver safely, quickly and comfortably drives the vehicle through the tunnel [2]. The “JTG/T D70/2-01—2014 Highway Tunnel Lighting Design Rule” [3], a new standard for China’s highway engineering industry, implemented on August 1, 2014, stipulates that highway tunnels with a length greater than 200m and a length greater than 100m Optical tunnels for motorways up to 200m in length shall be provided with lighting; lighting for one-way traffic tunnels shall be divided into lighting in the entrance section, lighting in the transition section, lighting in the middle section, lighting in the exit section, lighting in the approach road outside the tunnel, and light-reducing facilities near the entrance, both directions. The traffic tunnel lighting is divided into lighting in the entrance section, lighting in the transition section, lighting in the middle section, lighting in the approach road outside the tunnel, and dimming facilities in the approach section of the tunnel. 2 Application of GGDZ Intelligent Lighting Voltage Regulating Cabinet to Realize Highway Tunnel Lighting Saving

GGDZ intelligent lighting voltage regulator power saving cabinet has the following features:

(1) Stable voltage. Regardless of whether the grid voltage is at peak or low, the output voltage of the power saving cabinet is always stable at the user set value, which in turn produces a significant power saving effect. The standard energy saving rate is higher than 25%.

(2) stepless voltage regulator. During the output voltage conversion process, the voltage is adjusted at a rate of 30V/min, which does not generate transient surges and current surges. This avoids damage caused by voltage fluctuations of the lamps and thus extends the service life of the lamps.

(3) Voltage compensation. The power-saving cabinet is composed of a plurality of compensation transformers. The split-phase and gradation voltage compensation technology can reduce the energy consumption of the power-saving cabinet, make the power-saving cabinet more capacity, and regulate the pressure range. The use of compensation transformers and voltage regulator transformers can suppress transients caused by changes in grid voltage, current, and load, and optimize power quality.

(4) Intelligent time control. The user can set the power-saving voltage by himself according to the actual lighting needs, and program and run the lighting load's running time and power supply voltage.

(5) Safe and reliable operation. The power-saving cabinet has automatic and manual bypass functions. Once a fault occurs, it can automatically switch to the power supply of the grid, and no instantaneous light-out phenomenon will occur during the switching process. In addition, the output of the power saving cabinet is a complete sine wave and will not cause pollution to the power grid.

Table 1 shows the technical parameters of the GGDZ intelligent lighting voltage regulator power saving cabinet. The power-saving cabinet chassis is made of 2mm thick cold-rolled steel plate, with inner and outer surface layers sprayed. The protection class is IP54 and the temperature rise is less than 80K.

The following takes the Zhejiang Longli Lilong Expressway (Longyou to Lishui, Lishui to Longquan) as an example to introduce the energy saving effect of an expressway tunnel after applying the GGDZ intelligent lighting voltage stabilizing power saving cabinet.

The main lighting fixtures of Longli Lilong Expressway Tunnel are high-pressure sodium lamps, and the daily lighting is 24 hours. The total lighting power of the power-saving cabinet is 375kW, and the electricity fee is 0.89yuan/kWh. The 1a tariff is originally 2920000 yuan. In 2012, Longli Lilong selected four GGDZ intelligent lighting voltage-stabilized power saving cabinets at high speed, with an investment cost of about RMB 350,000, and the measured electricity saving rate was higher than 24%. It can be seen that the investment return period is six months, excluding lamp replacement and maintenance costs, and the total electricity savings can be up to 10.52 million yuan within 15 years.
