Liao Yuzhu introduced that the current mainstream dimming IC must have a starting voltage of 16V or more, and the IC should stop working at a voltage of 9-10V. The operating voltage of this MCU dimming product is only 5V.
"If the LED supply voltage is low, the IC voltage is insufficient. At this time, there will be flickering problems. The lack of IC voltage will also lead to the lack of stability of the whole system. Therefore, we choose a lower operating voltage such as 5V. Its use voltage range is wider, which is the biggest advantage." Liao Yuzhu said.
In addition to low operating voltage, this MCU dimming solution is also equipped with some peripheral circuits. "Because the thyristor dimmer needs a holding current, we need to match some dummy load circuits to achieve this holding current on the peripheral circuit."
