March 7 news, according to foreign media reports, Cannacord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley recently published a research report that the hot iPhone 4S makes Apple's market share continues to rise, while HTC and RIM are in poor condition. However, in the competition of the smart phone market, the biggest winner is chip maker Qualcomm.
Qualcomm currently provides chip solutions to a number of mainstream smartphone manufacturers. The company is now starting to use the new 28-nanometer process to produce wireless chips, and handsets that use this kind of chip can achieve longer battery life and thinner designs.
iPhone 4S uses Qualcomm MDM6610 chip. Some analysts believe that Apple will use Qualcomm’s next-generation MDM9615 baseband processor in future handsets. Walkley believes that sales to Samsung and Chinese handset makers will also benefit Qualcomm.
Walkley maintains Qualcomm’s stock rating at “buy†and the target share price is US$75.
