Diodes automotive grade rectifier boosts avalanche performance by ten times

Diodes Incorporated launched the Super Barrier RecTIfier (SBR) series, which complies with the AECQ101 high-reliability automotive standard, and is equipped with the third-level document of the ProduceTIon Part Approval Procedure (PPAP). These components are fully avalanche tested and have a reverse avalanche capability three to ten times stronger than similar Schottky diodes.

The SBR series is equipped with a unique patented structure, and its high reverse avalanche performance effectively prevents negative spikes and inductive load surges, making automotive products more robust and reliable. In a typical single-pulse avalanche test, when the Schottky and SBR devices are in the same circuit, their avalanche energies are 7mJ and 70mJ, respectively.

This SBR "Q" series provides up to 60A current rating and 100V reverse voltage rating. It can significantly reduce reverse leakage current at higher temperatures, help minimize circuit losses, and further prevent thermal runaway.
