According to Taiwan market research company Digitimes Research, in the third quarter of 2010, due to the increase in sales of LCD panels during the 11th period, shipments of small and medium-sized TFT LCD panels in Taiwan are expected to increase, up 10.4% from the previous month and up 48.1% year-on-year. Jason Yang, an analyst at Digitimes Research, said that in the third quarter of 2010, Taiwan's small and medium-sized LCD panels will also grow to the international market. Jason Yang pointed out that the European debt crisis will affect the sales of first-tier manufacturers, while the US market will not be affected. In the third quarter of 2010, due to the strong demand for LCD panels in mainland China, mainly from the needs of music player applications and first-line digital camera manufacturers, LCD panel shipments are expected to exceed 14%. Jason Yang also said that vehicle display panel shipments are expected to increase by 5.7% from the previous quarter, while digital photo frame and portable DVD player panel shipments will increase by 4.6% and 3.9% respectively. Digitimes Research said that in the fourth quarter of 2010, due to the seasonal decline, Taiwan's small and medium-sized panel shipments are expected to decline by 9.4%. DigiTimes Research pointed out that due to better-than-expected global economic recovery and the rapid elimination of STN LCD monitors, it is expected that global small and medium-sized panel shipments will increase to 23% in 2010. Due to the increasing orders from manufacturers of first-line LCD panels, in 2010, Taiwan's small and medium-sized TFT LCD panel shipments will account for more than 60% of the total shipments of small and medium-sized TFT LCD panels. Digitimes Research said that in 2010, Taiwan's small and medium-sized panel shipments are expected to grow, up 51.6% year-on-year, while Korean manufacturers' battery panel shipments are expected to account for 12% of Taiwan's small and medium-sized panel shipments.
