Intel shows that mobile and wearable devices are no longer isolated at CES

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich will deliver a keynote speech at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2014) in Las Vegas, USA on January 6. With this keynote speech, Ke Zaiqi will send a signal that the chip maker will continue to be connected as consumers move from desktop computing devices to mobile devices.

According to sources, in the keynote speech to face 150,000 viewers tonight, Ke Zaiqi will publicly show them some of the mobile and wearable devices of Intel's new equipment division (New Devices). Intel's new device is currently handled by former Apple executive Mike Bell. In addition, Ke Zaiqi will also emphasize what measures Intel has taken to accelerate the introduction of new products to the market.

As the world's largest chip maker, Intel still dominates the traditional computer processor market. Today, as consumers increasingly use smartphones and tablets that don't have Intel processors, the company is looking to expand its reach. As the global PC market is expected to decline for the third consecutive year this year, and Intel fails to win too much share in the smartphone processor market, Korge is working hard to assure the market and investors that the company will not miss it. New opportunities, such as wearables and other personal technologies.

Patrick Wang, an analyst at investment firm Evercore Partners, said, "Because of the decline in PC processor business, Intel must make up for it with other businesses. For this company, the biggest challenge of the current smile has already paid too much. More.” The analyst gave Intel’s stock “sell” rating in the investor report. As of now, Intel spokesman Robert Manetta has not commented on this report.

Over-reliance on PC

Ke Zaiqi took over Intel in May this year, but the company still relies heavily on server and PC processor business. According to market research firm IDC, Intel currently accounts for more than 80% of the global PC processor market and more than 95% of the server processor market. Last November, Intel expects full-year revenue for 2013 to be $52.6 billion, below market analysts' average estimate of $53.7 billion.

Since becoming CEO of Intel, Ke Qicqi has been taking steps to diversify Intel's business. Ke Zaiqi has previously stated that Intel will focus on providing the chips needed by the market, rather than pursuing the company's traditional model, designing and manufacturing products to determine the direction of the technology. In addition, Ke Zaiqi also said in November last year that Intel, which has the most advanced factory in the industry, may OEM products for competitors.

Not isolated from the world

Ke Zaiqi said at the investor conference held at the company headquarters in November last year, "No matter how the market shifts, no matter what the computer equipment needs, we hope to make our products stand out. We have become a little isolated in the past. We used to Too much focus on your best products, not the direction of the market."

The 53-year-old Ke Zaiqi also said that he is accelerating the time from design to manufacturing of new products and focusing on the introduction of low-voltage products. With a new processor called Quark, Intel is able to move from home appliances to industrial equipment.

Ke Qiaoqi is completely different from the former Paul Otellini in making chips for competitors and listening to customers. Otellini has previously said that smartphones and tablets will never be a replacement for PCs. Stacy Rasgon, an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein, said, "Intel had previously pretended to be ignorant. Today, the company's approach is to ensure that it is no longer being attacked."

Obstacles still exist

Like the top five internally appointed CEOs, Korge needs to further ensure that Intel's products are at the core. Lasgon said that although the market size of wearable devices is expected to reach 1 billion, Intel has not been able to launch new products quickly enough.

Analyst Patrick Wang said that Intel's factory may be the best way for the company to enter new markets. Intel will invest $11 billion in plants and equipment this year to maintain its leading position in transistor technology. Intel has previously said that the company has been ahead of its competitors for more than a year in the manufacturing process of all semiconductor base components.

Patrick Wang believes that in order to enter the smart watch, smart glasses processor market, Intel must open the factory to competitors such as Qualcomm, because the latter is more likely to win this battle. However, analyst Rasgon believes that Intel's success in the wearable device processor market will not immediately affect the company's performance. The analyst said, "It will not have a substantial impact in 2014."
